To simply be present in the moment. Or to create a focused bubble away from the distractions of your every day life, in which you can work on a project that you want to finish. Many come here to write their book, which was the inspiration for the name!

Nestled in the peaceful hills of Burgundy with the vineyards of Beaune just a stone’s throw away, our tiny house cabin offers relaxing views of the countryside and the woods. It’s the perfect place for a retreat or vacation in nature whilst still having shops and the interesting places to visit in our beautiful region at short distance.

With electric heating, airconditioning, a wood burning stove, an outdoor fire pit and a private hot tub just for you, The Writer’s Cabin offers the perfect hide-away any time of the year. Although it may be tiny, you’ll find everything you need to ensure a comfortable stay with a kitchen and bathroom and all linens and robes for the hot tub provided. You have a private little front yard and access to the shared garden and heated swimming pool. The cabin is 16sqm.

Upon request we offer healthy and fresh vegetarian and vegan meals and breakfast using seasonal produce, that you can enjoy in your cabin or in the shared garden and swimming pool area that you have access to.

Enjoy the exquisite wines of Burgundy, the delicious local food, hikes through the vineyards or in the beautiful natural park Le Morvan where you’ll find lakes, hills and forests.
All the goodness is at a 10-40 minutes drive from your cabin.

The cabin can welcome 2 people.

€180 per night, excluding tourist tax €0,96 per person per night

Minimum stay of 2 nights and minimum of 4 nights in the months of June, July, August and September. The cabin is self catering (breakfast not included).

NB: Smoking is not allowed inside the cabin and in the shared exterior spaces. Unfortunately we cannot welcome pets or babies and children under 12 years old.

We are in a tiny hamlet called Champignolles, right next to the village Lacanche where the famous range cookers are made.

We would love to welcome you here and meet you!

We’d been dreaming of renovating an old French farmhouse for years, but never took it very seriously. We enjoyed going on trips to France to look for houses, “just for fun”. In 2018 we took another one of those trips with no intention of actually buying something but when we set foot on “La Source” we felt we had no other choice but to buy it! Thinking it would be a holiday home.

We lived in the city in The Netherlands, were busy running our businesses and as much as we enjoyed this exciting life, we were craving to have a refuge in the countryside that would allow us to be closer to nature.

We never intended to move here. But after the first holiday we spent here with our boys – then 8 and 10 years old – we just didn’t want to go back to The Netherlands. 

And so, without too much overthinking, we moved here and took on the immense project of renovating the house and turning it into the family home and “refuge d’hôtes” we had always dreamed of.

We feel this place brings new and positive energy, inspiration, and the silence and peacefulness of the countryside allow you to reconnect with your essence and to reset. We would love to welcome you here so you can experience for yourself what it was that pulled us here. We are still in full renovations so we may look a little dusty when you cross us on the property 🙂
